Saw Palmetto is probably best known for its ability to relieve the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (BPH), and used for frequent urination, increased urination at night (nocturia), trouble starting urination, dribbling and incomplete urination. It has also been traditionally used to increase testosterone and support libido and hair growth.

Saw palmetto is a small palm tree native to the West Indies, and Southeastern United States. Native Americans ate the berries for food and used the plant for urinary and reproductive problems associated with an enlarged prostate gland. They also used it for coughs, indigestion, insomnia and infertility problems1. Native American medicine men were said to keep a bag of saw palmetto around to make antiseptic and a tonic, and for a wide variety of conditions.
